State Honor Choir Commissions

Beginning in 2011, as a part of the 50th Anniversary celebration for ACDA-MN, new commissioning projects were launched for the first time to include the four state honor choirs sponsored by ACDA-MN. Two commissions were awarded for the State 4-5-6 Children’s Honor Choir and the State 7-8 Boys’ Honor Choir for a performance in November of 2011. Two additional commissions were awarded for the State 7-8 Girls’ Honor Choir for a performance in November of 2012, and for the State 9-10 High School Honor Choir for a performance in February 2012. In February of 2014, a new State 9-10 Women's Honor Choir will premiere their first piece.  Due to the success and popularity of these commissioning projects, beginning in 2013, a new commission will be awarded on an annual rotating basis (one per year) for each of the five state honor choirs.
