Past President Memories
Ken Hodgson (2001-2003)
A number of years ago, the then President of ACDA of Minnesota (Bruce
Becker) called and asked if I would consider editing the ACDA of MN News Letter, "The Star of the North." After consulting with my wife and thinking of doing something fun on the computer, I said yes. The computer of choice at that time was an Apple Classic, although I soon graduated to a Classic SE, with its 6" black and white screen. Cut and Paste, meant just that and for several weeks my office was lined with music stands with two pages of the newsletter on each. Thus my association began with some of the most talented, amazing, friendly
and warm individuals I have ever had the privileged to work with.
Eight years later I ran for President and continued the great traditions that were by then well established - Fall Conventions, a multitude of sponsored festivals, Summer Dialogue and three or four yearly board meetings. I can't say that I did anything remarkable during that time, but I worked with remarkable people, who carried out our established programs that have made and keep ACDA of Minnesota an excempliary organization and to many degrees the envy of many other state ACDA organizations. So, if you get a call from someone on the executive board, take it as a high compliment and say yes!
