Symposium information
Please note: the Immersion Day and Student
Symposium both run from 9:30 to 1:30 on Friday.
The main performance venue will be the newly
renovated Boe Chapel.
Complete remodeling and acoustical treatment in
2007 have made this venerable chapel into a
beautiful concert space.
All activities of the convention--Immersion Day,
the Student Symposium, the honor choir
rehearsals and concerts, and of course the
convention itself--will be housed on campus.
The Anacrusis and Elementary Honor Choirs will
be led by three outstanding conductors, Beth
Holmes (7-8 girls), Bob Chilcott (7-8 Boys), and
Teri Larson (Elementary Honor Choir). Our
colleagues and their choirs who will perform at
the convention are: Philip Brown, Hopkins High
School Concert Choir, Julia Fahey, Partners In
Praise Choir, Ken Hodgson, UMM Concert Choir,
Christopher Aspaas, St. Olaf Viking Chorus,
Steven Albaugh, Rosemount HS Concert Choir,
Vicki Peters, The Summer Singers, Randi Grundahl/Rexroth,
Visitation Choir, Dwight Jilek, Northfield High
School Concert Choir, and Nancy Grundahl,
Angelica Cantati Concert Choir. We will have a
“chestnuts” reading session with Woody Johnson
and our keynote address will be by the
world-renowned Bob Chilcott.
Friday evening will feature a huge worship and
music event at Boe Chapel. John Ferguson and the
St. Olaf Cantorei, with Daniel Kallman and the
Bethel Senior Choir are designing an evening
based on the successful and popular Sing For Joy
Hymn Festival with St. Olaf campus pastor W.
Bruce Benson narrating, emphasizing anthems and
hymn-singing. Come to be inspired and
challenged, yet also given tools and ideas that
can be directly applied in your “real world”
situation.
Also at the convention: Our new A.C.E. Award
recipients will be introduced, scheduled time
for meeting with colleagues from your District,
the annual awards luncheon and, of course, the
afterglow.
Save the dates, encourage a colleague, and
come prepared for two days of professional
development and networking.
