A. B. "Bud" Engen (1919-2006)

A. B. Engen, known to his colleagues as "Bud", is a graduate of St. Olaf College. He began his teaching career in South Dakota and Iowa. Moving on to Duluth

and finally to White Bear Lake where he remained 23 years, his career also included 23 years of church choir work.

Active in the Minnesota Music Educators Association throughout his career, Bud served as MMEA Vocal Vice-President and has been secretary-treasurer since

1976. His choirs have performed for 11 different colleges, for MMEA, WMEA and MENC. Mr. Engen was director of The New Heritage Singers, whose tapes may be

heard on the Lutheran Vespers radio program, and he has directed The Lutheran Brotherhood Singers since 1974.
